    i cut from the top and no, they weren't any stiffer. i gained handling by lightweighting the car. i would suggest only cutting the spring from one end. if you're going to weaken the material, its better to only weaken it at one end.

    i cut 2 3/8 turns off my front springs, and its about a 50mm drop. they only just stayed seated in the cups, but they passed an MOT.

    thats a serioius releif...... i thought i was going to have to go find a 1.3L ignition barrel. ive got the ecu from my old one, but if i can leave my standard 1L ecu in place then happy days :D

    just a thuoght as well..... are the 1.3L valves any bigger? ive got a 1.3L head thats going on mine, just trying to save ppl money if the heads are identical apart from cams.

    i bought a bottom half of an engine from a scrappers for £50. block, sump and internals. they took the head off then and there.

    came out as everyone suggests. a piece of red hot steel with welding rod attached. pile of aluminium on the floor! Volkswagen have apparently designed a "new" welding technique though and they can stick aluminium to steel. they use the technology on their eco cars like the UP.

    i flood mine literally ALL THE TIME. if it doesnt catch first turn it could do it all day. guess thats the downside to the lack of an airfilter.
