Hi again..... Many thanks for your reply ... I have just been looking at new tyre prices ... geez are they made of gold . Sorry I have an SLX 95 with the standard "skinny wheels" on and ditchfinders all round .... although i have got 30k out of them so far lol (cos they slide everywhere i guess...

Are the wheels still up for grabs and if so what are the tyres like for tread / and brand ? Also do you have a good front left/passenger side front caliper ... mines a bit lazy. Also both wing mirrors .. how much if they are in good nick ? I can collect as I am in Winscombe

If you put an ad in wanted on here you will get a distributor for a lot less than £100 second hand ! Imho i would get a new cap and rotor arm and plugs and change these ... If still same symptoms go for second hand distributor and put new cap and rotor on that ..... If you do distributor...

I might be interested but depends on pictures / damage and your location. I was looking out for another £500 car like my SLX but might go a bit higher for something clean.

With Wheel arch rust dont forget to clear out the inside of the arches .... scrape out with fingers/blunt spoon and then sponge and lots of soapy water ...... especially the inner lip .... crud collects there and this is usually what causes the rust in the first place .... so clean the inner...

Just done 500 miles today to Somerset and back in the 1.3 K11 ..... topped up the tank and red light just started to come on 345 miles later ... as I pulled into to fill up....... And that was 80-90 on the clock all the way ...... except for the 50 limit on the M25 of course :wasntme: Brill...

Hi Ok heres what i think is happening to the rev counter ..... It looks like you have a rev counter wire added / spliced in to the ignition wiring ...... its the blue wire shown best in the tenth picture down with a glob of what appears to be sealant over it .... check this is a good connection...

That is HT discharge sound ... mind what you touch cos it will give you a good electric belt lol .... Could be dizzy cap/leads/rotor arm ..... Be worth changing rotor and dizzy cap to start with ..... As you hear the clicking noise the engine slows as its missed a spark ... High Tension...

Before you mess about with the chain which imho sounds "normal" ......... get some wd40 and spray it on the pulleys and around the belt areas etc .... this will often quieten down the pulleys and belts for a short period ..... Also has your oil been changed recently as i have just done mine...

All the micras i have ever heard have that same "chain rubbing noise" ... as i say it usually quietens as the engine warms..... I dont think it needs replacing......

If you have a leak yes it can cause overheating .... due to lack of pressure the water may boil near the leak .... used to have this problem on a triumph spitfire ... poorly sealed metal bypass hose used to show up as in the red on coolant guage ..... ... Try fixing the hose first ... also...

Its the timing chain .... mine makes the same noise and gets quieter when the engines hot .... Has done it since 39000 miles when we bought it and still doing it at 56000 miles

Just waiting on the dizzy to arrive ..... Thanks ALL for the input / help :) While i been waiting the oil and filters been changed, resistor card re soldered and just shopping for some 6x9 Speakers for the rear shelf ... In fact might change the fronts as well as they sound like they have seen...
