Best bang for buck is mating the 1.0 gearbox with the 1.3 engine. You'll be dumping money and chasing tiny gains.

Agreed. I had these on my Civic VTi and had no issues. Great tyre for the money. I also used to pick up 155/70/13 and 165/65/13 tyres part worn for £10 ea fitted and balanced, from memory they were Ceat Spiders which are budget tier poo but actually held really well!

FWIW, I picked my old man up some headlight cleaner from The Range for £7.99 and his Mk5 Golf headlights came up pretty good!

These will not do. The light output is so low. You will need to find a kit with ballasts, much like HID kits. Keep in mind LED light output is dependant on the temperature of the light unit itself, so cheap kits that overheat will see output drop. Also, not legal, yada yada.

You can get LED sidelights off of eBay for a few quid. There's JDM rear lights which might be LED? Pretty uncommon and the price reflects that. You can also sling in a HID kit (not legal) or look into the LED kits (not legal either).
