Is it a noisy gearbox, or a noisy thrust bearing? Does the noise vanish if it's not under load/the clutch is down?

My first driving lessons in 1983 were in a K10. It was the first car I'd seen with a 5 speed gearbox!

Had the tracking done, finally. Drives nicer, but the steering wheel is still at 11 o'clock going straight: Is it the Tech's fault, or is my car twisted?

The latest in the "How long SHOULD it take..." series. I know they're FUBAR because of the scrunching noise I get from the rear if I have to brake really hard. Any pointers/Tips/Things to NOT do?

It's odd how many people seem to "End Up" with a Micra, and then really like them (Guilty as charged). I don't think I've had anything this much fun to drive since my 1973 Mini 1000 I had in 1991! :)

WIDTMMT: I found out where the road noise I'd been hearing was coming from. When I took the rear seats out I also took out the bits associated with them, including catches and seatbelts, not realising the bottom anchor point for the straps bolted THROUGH and INTO the rear wheel arches! So I've...

These ones have Nylock nuts on them, and yes I did. I do have my moments (It's my age, you know ;) ), but when it comes to brakes and steering I pay CLOSE attention :)

It sounds like what I had, which was worn Track Rod Ends, so new shocks and springs will not change the rattles and twitchy steering. Just a thought....

Watched the Odometer flip over to 107K.

It only takes about 3mm of movement to make the steering rattle. Mine has been much nicer since I did them.

Cost effective, and keeps the car totally original :D

I can't afford to build Mad Power, so I guess Comma oil will be used :)
