Look under the drivers side of the handbreak, there is the button style switch, that controls the light. See if that is getting stuck, would be my best guess, unless its a more serious fault

Dont check the oil inbetween the journey, its all thrown about during driving, so it looks like most of it is gone. Cold unmoved engine is the best place to start.

No offence, but are you booting it about? MPG is shocking on my car if I drive with a heavy right foot, but it lasts 3 weeks, doing 20 miles a day, if I eco drive, off a full tank.. Which was £38 this week!

I had this same problem, when going for it in 5th up a hill, mine was with a external counter however, but I found it was a loose connection, mine was a wire on the Dizzy however
