    Considering a 1.5dci

I think the k12 as a car on the whole is absolutely fantastic and everyone who has owned one has had no complaints. I'm skeptical about the diesel models though .... we fear what we do not understand, or rather what i dont understand :D plus I've never driven the 1.5 dci, but from a non-engine...

    Squeezing more out the 1l

Some form of pipercross air induction kit and a bigger exhaust will take a second or two off your 0-60 time, but a 68bhp engine pulling a 1 tonne car at 70mph on a highway is going to have no real power and certainly no low-to-mid-range torque. I'd be very surprised if you could overtake...

Electrical (?) Problems K12 (light related)

K12s are prone to exterior light issues. I was driving at dusk and was pulling up in my driveway and BOOM both dipped beam bulbs (i think that's what they're called ...) and both main beam bulbs blew at the same time. Not as dramatic as i described, but still very confusing that every bulb would...

    PCV valve and oil consumption

There are about 10 bolts around the outside of the airbox on the front, back and both sides that are 10mm. It's not that difficult at all :) make sure you unclip the air filter housing which is on the left underside of the airbox because it'll get in the way. Once you've unclipped and removed...

    PCV valve and oil consumption

Remove the entire airbox (both top and bottom) and you should be looking at the bare engine block which will have a sensor on the left side of the block, a cylindrical nipple with some rubber sheathing inside of it and a small bump with a rubber hose coming away from the back of the engine...

    Looking to start tuning...

Yeah, I have yet to find a tuning shop who has worked on a K12 before :( it'd be a case of doing the work yourself or asking some japanese tuning gurus what they've done to get more power. Impul sell some tuning upgrades so check out their stuff! And thank you very much! I do the best with what...

    Exhaust fitment?

The main thing is to make sure that the pipe that bends over the rear cross-member is present in the exhaust system you are buying. Apart from that it's just a case of joining the pipes together using a metal collar or welding. If you look at your exhaust you'll see that it bends up and over...

    Changing Timing Chain Guide?

Exhaust leaks are just impossible :( because you're trying to stop sound from escaping before it reaches the muffler tip and obviously its hard to completely seal up every single joint and gasket. Might just be a case of dropping the whole exhaust and checking each piece one by one for leaks...

    Changing Timing Chain Guide?

You're right about the learning procedure ^ i've no idea how you'd do it though. I remember the old days when you just needed a 10mm spanner and a couple screwdrivers to adjust your throttle, idle speed and fuel input .... those were the days. I've got a WRC spec K12 Micra build written on my...

    Changing Timing Chain Guide?

I'd really be interested in a detailed-ish report of how an engine swap went after you're finished. I'm moving on from my life in the UK and only driving my Micra when I'm back home visiting family, but I am determined to get another K12 in the future and do a full race build on it with a 160sr...

    changing k12 spark plugs

Using a 12mm deep socket and an extension for the socket wrench, yes. Just make sure the socket has the rubber bung inside it. And no problem!

    changing k12 spark plugs

I'm 99.99% sure, yes. It's got to be a DEEP socket, not a long socket. Trust me, there's a difference. Myself and another mechanical engineer stood at the counter of Target tools for a good half hour trying to figure out why a 12mm deep socket isnt the same size as a 12mm long socket, or in...

    changing k12 spark plugs

I believe it's a 12mm deep socket. You'll have to go out and buy one for £5 or so. There are only two or three spark plug sizes for all cars, for future reference: 10mm, maybe 11mm and definitely 12mm. And make sure it has a rubber bung type of thing inside the socket because that is what grips...

    Changing Timing Chain Guide?

I'll add on a bit more since I only described the plastic bumper. Once the bumper is off you should see the crash bar which is bolted onto the chassis by three or four bolts at each end. Remove these bolts and ensure that the horn is detached and the whole thing should then lift off.

    Extreme mod parts

What he said ^ Google Micra K12 bodykits and you'll find one or two things. If i was you i'd buy stuff from other cars and then adapt them. My sideskirts are for a Polo and I cut them down and made them fit. The spoiler is actually for a Micra but there is a spoiler for a Renaultsport Clio that...

    Inherited the wifes Micra

Check greggson exhausts. They do a couple different styles of exhaust that I personally had :) I had the single centre-tip exhaust myself. All you need to do is cut the exhaust pipe as close to the rear muffler as possible and then you can attach just about any exhaust you like. The tricky bit...
