Agreed. But the alternator also acts like a switch, mine was draining the battery horrendously and leaving lights on the dash when unconnected but absolutely fine when connected. Thats just what I've found with my k10, may be wrong

Some of my lights stayed half on and it was only when I put the alternator wires on the right way round that it worked :P

Ahhhhh have you connected the alternator? I can almost guarantee that's what it'll be. Same thing I had!

Its gonna have a crap ignition curve :/ I know its be a bit late but would a metro turbo dizzy of been better? I believe they already have a very similar slotted drive

You got a pic? There is a wire that goes to the starter, I believe it ups's the revs for when cranking?! I didn't connect it and mine starts fine!

Yeh, K10 loom spliced into the 2 wires coming off the K11 plug. and then the main live just bolts on, and I just stick the earth on the block :) If you need a plug I might have one kicking around you can have for the postage?
