there you go aki, 15 deg btdc

and a vid of the japspec 11.5:1 C/R 1275 engine with SR20 t/b, QG injectors, CGA inlet and fuelrail, 2.5 kg f/w and stock cams and no mani @ idle (for future reference)

mines a bit on the advanced side(around 20ish) for now coz im still using the efi dizzy since my carby convertion.. my last dizzy conversion had an opposite rotation so the vacuum advancer causes it to retard instead of advance >_< ..

grown to love this new f/w just as quick in 1st and 2nd as the cammed engine ! but taction in 1st is a bit lacking tho (and non existent in the wet lol)

its got the hybrid 180mm on the f/w side and shaved down to 170mm on the pressureplate side baguete (with the 160mm centrespline swapped over) the 160mm friction plate would slip bigtime
the 1.3 setup has a bigger dish in the f/w, so the auto driveplate is,nt suitable eh

Oh well, have to keep the heavy setup then, and discard the auto fly that came with the March... lol

added some side protection this week (sadly lacking on these 3 door shells !)

and coded the wheel centres, and cut the front matiz springs to the "captive max" (7 coils)

fitted some corsa coilies today (acquired from a local breakers yard) and used the corsa topmount
it sat very high tho ! (as in pic) so had to include the smaller helper springs, and adjust it fully down

they,re very firm hotfunk !
other plans are afoot (will update no doubt )

coilies are off again lol we,re currently running on some more matiz legs but with the lower perch unpicked and lowered and 1 coil cut spring (bottom in pic)
the 3 coil cut ones were too firm (like the coilies) and the stock matiz leg is too soft and high

we,ve piecut and reworked the g/box mount too, to lift the g/box up a bit and to straighten the shafts a bit too

yes nick, and i,ve got rid of that damn machine gun sound under the dash now !
if the coilie dampers were adjustable and i could soften them, then they would be fine (the springrate is,nt far out) but those stiff dampers "jarr" the car on our local concrete M42 or on scabby tarmac
we,ve cut the (fairly rusty) front crossmember off now, ready for the straighter /higher ally one

the gearbox is a tad higher than the chassis/wishbone mount now (and a bit more out of harms way )

thats with it on the bumpstops tbh low, here,s the running height (same 1 finger archgap as before)

the damper rate i guess RB, this is what the matiz dampers feel like
when the coilies were fitted the only movement when i did that, was tyreflex :O

for comparison, here,s the wife,s with k11 legs with matiz rear springs

have you looked / done the maths for the ideal Header design?

Dia of runners? Length of runners? 4 into 1?

what size would you run the rest of the system? 2inch? 2.5?

A fabricator friend and i are looking at knocking one up for The AUS spec 1.3 with air con.

planning on Tig welding mandrel bends, as sand pipe bending might be a bit much for our 1st time.

ive had a read of the theory. but im unsure to what RPMs ect to try and tune for.

any opinions ant articles greatly welcomed.

the mani sounds good, i measured baguete,s cube alpha mani primaries when it was in my possession, and they were surprisingly small for a 101hp setup, and sort-of 4 into 1 eh
and my janspeed ones seemed too large for a 1.3 to me
i think my personal choice would be a similar design to the cube but with bigger 28mm bore primaries

15.9,s were all i could wring out of the stock cammed 1275 lol
here,s an almera gti that apparently has 190hp ??
will refit the 1311 asap lol

That needs to be made to work Frank, it's so very good. Your banded 12s with chunky tyres and them super-lows, it'd be mental. I see them wheels in gloss black with a yellow lip and white tyre lettering *drools*

shame we cant run that low eh matt the wishbone mounts were literally sitting on the ground lol
the banded 12,s are for the track tbh (they drop the gearing a treat) and will have black centres and chrome/ally dish like the 135 rears

the clutch and fly did,nt even break into a sweat these last 6 weeks eh

and we tried a different assembly method today
angled the g/box and engine, used a nut and bolt as a guide (arrowed) and it slid together a piece of piss (shafts in situ obviously)

the dub ones were a doddle to separate low, you should try just 4 x 2" welds to grind off with that very versatile well known tool, and then bish-bosh
i could have done with a bit more grip at the rear today lol

Are you breaking into corners frank? Seem very loose in the back end and I track raced our old Micra several times in wet and dry conditioneds and never had that problem till I braked into a corner.

not braking or lifting really sik, the 3 breakaways were part way round the corners eh, the back was sliding round most of the corners (the photographer has a few shots of me midcorner straight steering wheel), but i work on gokarts every day and my instinct is always in rear wheel drive mode (opposite lock, steer with the throttle)
and the little finger is instinct too lol my misses says i drink tea like that too

they,re a bloody tight fit low i use a big fat wedge/drift thingy and a lump hammer.
and you can see my pinky in the 1/4 mile vids too lol, concentration innit

they,re on craigs super s now pepper (pretty low on a full weight k11 eh !)
