I had these fitted today and first impressions are awesome. The take-off seems alot different. I went around a 90deg left casually in first at say 3500 revs and as it straightened planted it and got wheel spin not from body roll. I was hitting the rev limiter with out really picking up speed before I new it which had me in shock. So far very impressed. Will do some g-tech comparisons over the weekend.

Yay that's awesome Craig. Go NA power. You can't beat it.

Wouldn't mind throwing one in the white car.

PS (Money order if on its way, I sent a few days ago).

Well the proof is in the pudding now.
Before I start the thanks has to go to cisco and all the counterparts that give endless amounts of quality info on this site. Thanks.

The performance mods for my little car are done. After nearly 8 monthes. I have a series of recorded times on the same g-tech on the same testing ground so it's fair to say they worthy test results.

standard 0-60 and 1/4 mile times

ave 12.2 0-60 best 11.7
ave 18.7 1/4mile best 18.4

hurricane extractors, vn cat, 2" exhaust

ave 10.00 0-60 best 9.9
ave 17.5 1/4mile best 17.4

cold air intake, fuel pressure reg, above and dyno tuned

ave 8.6 0-60 best 8.4
ave 16.7 1/4 mile best 16.4

lightweight datrats flywheel, hd exedy clutch and above

ave 8.1 0-60 best 8.00
ave 16.3 1/4mile best 16.24

As you can see its been a great success and I am rapped with the results.

Its not a forced beast but its given enough cars a shock lately. The tests give a fair example of what kind of outcomes you can expect to get from each mod. The NA results are pretty good when compared with some of the low boost turbo times recorded.

good going mate, I've had stock turbo cars that do 0-60 is the 7s and you almost there. A mate of mine took his VT common-dore to Willowbank a few months ago and could not even do 16second ET and thats with filter and pipe. Sounds great mate have lots of fun and don't forget to look at ther faces as you drive by.ha ha

That's awesome NA is the best. I reckon if you get your lightweight rims on there you will get the quarter down to a flat 16. Wheels make a huge difference. Also could shed some weight.

Those are great times mate. This is only using your personal way of measuring the times too.. A factory micra is officially timed at 17.3 quarter from the factory. So your car would actually be faster than your best of 16.3 if it was timed using the official method. So she sounds pretty zippy I reckon.

Mate if I had a two door the back seats would be gone. It would kind of be like a van if bailed the seats on the four door.

Its a shame as I would love to strip easy weight.

Thanks guys

Hi Bosito, wow very impressive improvement in performance !. Sorry to be boring... but I am interested to know your experience about how these mods have effected fuel economy....

Obviously if you are driving flat-out everywhere economy will be much worse but just wondering how you find it when you are just cruising around at an easy pace ?.

Most of the time I just amble along at an easy pace... but it would be great to have more power on tap when required.. ;)

These are exactly the sort of mods I am looking at doing on my car but I have a fairly long commute each day and don't want to turn my micra into a 'gas guzzler'....

Thanks

Great times Bosito.

Good news for people who don't want/can't afford a Turbo conversion:)

A Lightned flywheel and HD Clutch are net on my agenda also. Although that maybe a little way off yet. (at least while the current clutch is still working)

throw some stock steel 13"s on it, with good tyres (front) and get it down the real 1/4 mile...

be interesting to see how it goes :)

I've never been able to get a g-tech consistant.. they're almost useless devices in my opinion.. :(

whats the retail on the datrats fly? :)

yeah we're going heathcote in a couple of weeks so be good to see what comes out of that

i think if you use the gtech on the same stretch of road all the time you can get some sort of idea of improvements.

yeah i'd love one of them flywheels but they've gone up in price

Makes I'll have to take a note on the weekend as I am going on an open rd style long drive.

I have been looking at trying to pick up some light weight wheels as I am hopefully (late entry) doing a hill climb on the weekend and if I get hooked I will be wanting to get some race rubber down the track.

I can't see the point of driving around on it and was thinking that the stock 13" wheels I have spare probably wouldn't be the best suited size. But I don't really know what size is best.

I am more inclined to want to do track, motokhana, hillclimb type stuff not drags so if any body knows and can help me make my descision pls do. I have found some light weight 14's and 15's but it would be a lot cheaper to put rubber on the stock 13's and forget about buying wheels altogether.

Any help or opinions would be appreciated thanks Craig

Craig,

I have been using "R spec" dunlop D98J's.

They kick ass over the Yoko advans I think.

In 175X60X13 on a Super S rim (13X5) weight is 10Kg.

They are a perfect combo with Std brakes and Green stuff pads at Phillip island race track.

Cheers
Trev

I'd definately try R-comp's on the standard 13" steelies. why not, they are there... only concerns I have, is I reckon they bend slightly on hard cornering, but it's no biggy.. haha

while the pulsar SSS 14"s are nice, they are a heavy combination for sure! nice and phat.. heh

I plan to go do some khana work too soon.. just gotta sort the zorst, and get some r's for the 13s :) super light!
