Year of Manufacturing

Hi all,

Apologies if this has been answered a 1000 times but I can't find any info on it.

I need to get a new key cut for my UK nissan Micra and it has a transponder chip so I need to know the year of Manufacturing for this.

My VIN 10th character is U which I keep getting told is not a letter they used for the year of manufacturing.

Can anyone help me figure out how you find the year of manufacture either from the VIN or somewhere else?

The date of registration is 2000 but I need to enter the manufacturing year for the transponder chip for a key from keymoon.uk

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Josh

Hi, the letter "U" on the VIN means that is a European market car.
There isn´t a way of clearly looking for the manufacturing date. Probably the only place that might be able to have manufacturing date records is a Nissan dealer itself.
I know that some plastics have the manufacturing year/month stamped but that will only give you a close estimation.
I think best is to check your ECU or someone that knows NATS systems better.
Yours must be a facelift (different headlights/front) with still the CG10/CG13 engine (still distributor). If thats the case then i would say you can put either 1998/1999/2000 as manufacturing date.
