When do you think

Kamarley

If it aint Jap its Crap!
When do you think the k11 will be as old school as things like the k10 and the mk1 golf?? How old do these bad boys have to be for that to happen??

It's to do with ageing and image. Take the mini.
1. Car for the masses, then...
2. Common and abused cause they're cheap due to lots around then...
3. Get rarer and carry nostalgia, also due to becoming less common they are more appreciated when present and cared for.

The k11 is heading into/through phase 2 atm... Give it time :)

Honestly I doubt it ever will be a true cool retro, cars from the mid nineties to now are all samey and boring. One or two may become retro cool but it really won't be many

Most 80s/90s cars are heading into stage 3 because of the scrappage scheme.... killed many off
K10 shares many characteristics of the 205 the mk1 fiesta and so on.... so it may in time become a cool retro car... thanks to the super turbo

K11 will never be "retro" cool.

It'll become old, but not appreciated like a Mk1 Fezza.

80s cars had class and character. Our cars all seem mass produced for the smallest cost.

That's why I have mine all my mates have 106's I didn't want to be the same following everyone's taste instead of my own

We love our micras as a cheap chip off the techno japanese block
But simply liking a car for what it is doesn't make it a retro classic :)
The sqaure beefy look of the 80s is long gone and highly respected
The new round shape of modern computers with wheels is not so cool

It's my very first car I miss 1990 Citroen bx14, I would happily swap Charlie for it but I've got no idea where it's ended up

I think motor sport has alot to do with a cars image too.
205 T16
The escorts
Lanciaa
Even the k10 was a rally car and an immense touring car

Too true but to make everyone feel better if/when I need/want a new car ill turn my k11 into a mad track car :)

I don't think they're the kind of car that'll ever be retro. They'll just be remembered as 'those cars kids and grannies always had'

As mentioned, at least the K10 had a turbo version too. 90s cars weren't particularly inspiring unless they were jumped up, think EK9 Type Rs, Starlet Glanzas, all the way through RX7s, Skylines and Evos. Then on an even higher level the McLaren F1.

I honestly can't think of a normal grocery getter type 90s car that was anything other than boring and round. Think back to the 70s and 80s, where normal every-day cars are now worth thousands and are considered timeless... Pretty much anything by Ford up until the Escort Cosworth is timeless.

Yeah, k11 wont be retro, Corsas will (There piggin everywhere! but their timing chain breaks eventually :p they going to be the next iteration of nova, sat on peoples drive for 10 years woop!)

I dont think corsas will be cool either, theyre not much for character... They'll just stay with the same chavvy guys doing chavvy things with them, 'cept the drivers will have progressively more wrinkles

Yes! they will still inspire diesel sounding petrol engines though! its one of the many traits of the micra engine I love, when I can pull up next to a friend and go 'that's not a timing chain, this is a timing chain' especially with fully synth oil in, my god the cg10 is a quite thing!

Being more valuable doesn't mean there's becoming cooler, it's just businesses have picked up on the fact that the demand for spares/cars had increased as people want cheap runabouts nowadays

I ain't worried about being cool daddyo:p I wouldn't mind being warm at the moment, end of summer season started here in the shops today. What next....Xmas adverts:eek:
