I need advise guys, please asap!

HI!
This is my what happened to my micra 3 hours ago. Drunk idiot(police got his car abandoned and after him now) hit my car and nearly hit 2 officers - fiesta of my neighbours gone as well obviously.

I need advice from you guys, as I have not been involved in this situation before - police took it to their pound(i forget my parking permit inside). I lost my car (third party fire and theft insurance) and now I would be paying for recovery and maybe something else? Do I need to claim even if I don't want to?(other vehicle involved) I would like to save my 2 years NCB - is it possible? Do I need to pay for my car to be crashed as this is really wrong time for me just before Christmas Eve? My neighbours will be claiming on me as my car hit theirs, so I will lose my NCB anyway?

Im gutted...

Your neighbours will be claiming against the other party (if insured) not you.
You should not have to pay recovery charges, they may look to recover against the drunks insurance.
You do not have to claim anything if you do not want too.
Your NCB is probably protected for one claim.
You need to have a chat with your insurance company to explain your situation.

Would it be possible for you to contact your insurance company to discuss this with them?
You are probably still in shock right now.

The claim you will need to make should be on your third party insurance policy because this should cover your Micra hitting the neighbours Fiesta. Its usually a matter for the Insurance companies to sort out and here, your insurance company would go after the driver who caused the accident through his insurance - if he carried insurance, which I believe is compulsory in the UK. But that is between them and the drunk driver who caused all this trouble. It maybe that if all blame can be apportioned to the drunk driver then you may not loose your NCB - I don't know but you could ask your Insurance company if it could be a possibility.

Somebody will have to pay to have your car crushed and because you don't have full cover then it will be you. Recovery of this amount can be attempted from the drunk driver or his insurance and this could be where your policy could come into effect. In any event, facing the probable loss of your NCB is one of the harsh realities we have to face as car owners and drivers. It sucks, but there it is.
But honestly the best place to start in any of this is with your insurance company who deal with this kind of situation many times a day.

I have no more to add over what davyboy said apart from I'm gutted for you, but do take some comfort in the fact you weren't in it & injured - that is the most important part.
I hope you get it sorted out ok.
All the best.

Well the other insurance co can hardly argue this one do no reason why they shouldn't pay!! You'll have to argue over price and provide evidence (such as Autotrader ads) for similar cars with similar age/mileage. I just had to claim off my own insurance and they settled in the same day.
