I've got a HKS green cotton pod filter hooked up to with samco hoses and stainless steel piping. No real performance gain to be honest, It's a bit perkier at the top end but that's it. The noise factor is awesome though

I only run half a tank too, unless I'm going on a journey and know I'll need more. Less weight = better fuel consumption. Be sure that your tyre pressures are good too as that can help with MPG even more :D
